I truly don’t think dumb comments are gender specific, but, being the newbie on board, even I have to think: Duh, did I just say that?
“I’m in” with all the excitement of a four year old…only to find that “I’m into the wreck.” As a result, I never say a word even when I’m fairly certain that I’ve hooked up, just in case the monstrous fish I’m fighting is really the mast of a sunken schooner. I leave it to others to say, “She’s in.”
“It’s raining,” only to realize the drops of water are emanating from my line as I reel; five years later and I still fall for it.
Me: “Why is my jig not hitting bottom?” Gary: “Because there’s a fish on the other end.” Me: “Ooooooh”
And just last week…Me: “I’m in the wreck,” snapping the rod with what I hope is coming off as the dexterity of a seasoned angler. Tim: “It’s a fish.”
